This Saturday, July 31 at the Hilton Garden Inn Courthouse you can take part in what the Hidden Council's Annual Costume Ball is claiming to be the "Social event of the year". We will let you be the judge of that, but this Murder Mystery Costume Ball is another great reason to throw on a costume and interact as one of the characters in the whodunit. Or if you so choose, you can go and sit back and watch the thriller unfold before your very eyes. But beware as this event promises political intrigue, barbed innuendos, backstabbing and betrayal.

A native Arlingtonian and self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur, I have always been very disappointed by the surprisingly limited and overpriced ice cream selection in Arlington. Located in Westover, a neighborhood off the beaten path of the main Clarendon drag and therefore, an area that remains, fairly overlooked/unnoticed by new Arlington residents, however, is Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream & Coffee. Their ice cream is not only delicious (I say this with first hand knowledge because Toby graciously offered me several samples of flavors such as S’Mores, White Chocolate Blueberry, and Coffee Oreo), but also very reasonably priced. Toby’s motto is “great ice cream at a great price,” and at $3.75 for 3 homemade scoops, I would say his shop certainly holds true to his mantra.

The Holiday Inn National Airport has gone green, with efforts focused on Recycling, conservation on consumption and waste reduction, as well as keeping your meetings green. These really are the simple things that we might not think about, but this Holiday Inn is taking action to be certain that the little things don't go overlooked. From recycling receptacles in all the guestrooms to filtered water instead of bottled water to the administrative team discontinuing of printing daily reports, which by the way is an annual savings of paper equivalent to 20 miles. So if you have family coming in from far away or you are looking to have a business function locally think green and call the Holiday Inn National Airport.

Top 5 Places to Watch the World Cup
Congratulations once again to Anna Lipari who won our Facebook competition by submitting the winning idea for this articles’ focus. While Anna walked away with two free tickets to a Nationals game, we were left with the difficult task of narrowing down the Top 5 places in Arlington to watch the World Cup. It seems as though almost every bar in town has their own charm or special offer to draw customers into their spot over the one next door. So here it is, Arlington – get to one of these spots for the last remaining games and have a guaranteed good time!

Located in the heart of Clarendon, Iota Club and Cafe is holding strong as Arlington's destination to see and hear some of the best local and national talent that come out to play. Hosting a number of different bands, poetry, and comedy acts seven nights a week, this venue is an easy pick for nights where you're unsure where to go. What many people don't know, however, is that the food at Iota is as excellent as the shows they book. We recommend the crab and brie quesadilla with toasted almonds, apple compote and spiced-apple glaze.

There is no doubt that Jakob Wolf-Barnett, the Operations Manager for Revolution Cycles, has a passion for biking. A tri and duathlete, it is probably fair to say that the only time Jakob is not on a bike is when he is commuting between Revolution’s five stores. Jakob’s career with Revolution Cycles began in 1999. He took a hiatus in 2001 to finish up school and spend some time doing sales, but couldn’t stay away from Revolution for too long. “What brought me back to Revolution,” Jakob says, “is my respect for the owners and the attraction of working with such a dynamic and growth oriented company.” And with five stores to-date, including the recent addition of the City Hub in Crystal City, it is clear that the owners of Revolution Cycles have a mission to get every butt in Arlington on a bike.
